Big shout out to trees for keeping us alive. Not only do they provide oxygen and limit the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, they also stabilise our environment and grow the food we eat.
To say thanks to our photosynthesis-loving friends, we are getting involved in Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, and we are donating a tree for every core woodworking product sold via our Australian, Canadian and American webstores.
With each purchase, we will donate to either One Tree Planted (in Canada and the US) and Carbon Neutral (in Australia). These initiatives aim to restore and rehabilitate forests to ensure they have a sustainable future.
Whenever we talk about sustainability, Kevin seems to appear like magic. He’s generally reminding us to purchase timber from sustainable sources and not to discard scrap wood because it could be turned into something beautiful.
Sustainable forestry practices ensure that when a tree is removed, it is replaced by another, allowing the level of harvest to match the annual level of growth. Of course, sustainability is not just about numbers of trees but also about ensuring there is no damage to biodiversity or to other wildlife.
While there are a number of environmental awareness days, we’re on board with any cause that reminds us about the importance of sustainability and looking after our planet, and what better symbol of a healthy planet is there than a tree.
How do we love thee? Let us count the ways!
- Trees alter the environment we live in by moderating our climate - Trees provide habitats for wildlife - Trees purify our air and combat climate change - Mature trees protect communities against flash floods and landslides by stabilizing soil and absorbing water - Tree roots filter harmful chemicals and pollutants from storm runoff that ends up lakes, streams and rivers - Trees provide shade for us to sit under and protect us from UV rays - You can recycle 100% of a tree - We can build lots of things out of trees like houses, furniture and fences
Not only do trees clean our air and water and help regulate our climate, they provide important habitat for wildlife, provide economic outcomes, and improve our overall health!
Since 2014, One Tree Planted have more than doubled the number of trees planted each year, and are working with partners across 47+ countries.
The Carbon Neutral x Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor project focuses on revegetating unproductive, degraded farmland to its original condition, and restoring the precious ecosystems within it.
Did you know that the world is home to over 60,000 different tree species? Trees provide inumerous benefits such as clean air, water, biodiversity, social impact, health and help to regulate climate.
The Carbon Neutral team plant around 40-50 biodiverse native species are planted every year

One Tree Planted, Canada: British Columbia is home to incredible and iconic biodiversity and forests cover two-thirds of the province – an area of almost 60 million hectares. Our reforestation partners are experts in rehabilitating B.C. forests and ensuring they have a sustainable future. Help us plant trees in British Columbia to help reduce the damage from beetle infestations, lessen the impact of wildfires, provide habitat for B.C.'s abundant wildlife like the moose and grizzly bear, and preserve the province's natural beauty for generations to come.
One Tree Planted, US: Unfortunately, five years of drought and large-scale bark beetle infestation have seriously damaged these once-thriving forests of California. Not to mention, record-breaking wildfire seasons that have consumed millions of acres, resulting in hundreds of millions of trees that must be restored. Trees play a vital role in maintaining the liveliness of California communities. With your contribution, we will help restore areas affected by wildfires throughout the whole of California, thus producing ecological benefits such as habitat restoration and erosion control. Carbon Neutral, Australia: We are aiming to restore the natural landscape and reconnecting habitats by linking small patches of remaining vegetation to create a 200km green corridor from inland to the coast. Plant-a-Tree grows critical habitat for native wildlife on historically cleared land in a Global Biodiversity Hotspot For every tree purchased we plant an Australian native tree or shrub species in the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor on unproductive, degraded farmland with the aim of returning the land to its original condition and restoring the precious ecosystems within it. Our trees are protected for 100 years by a carbon covenant and carbon right registered with the state government on the land title. This ensures the trees cannot be removed or compromised, even if the land is sold.
