Antifoul Removal

Antifoul Removal

How do you remove the old antifouling from a wooden sailboat quickly and inexpensively on your own?

We show you a solution with the Power Carving Unit and TURBOPlane to complete this mission successfully.

Remove Antifoul Paint

As any shipwright would understand removing antifoul and paint from boats is no fun and incredibly labour intensive. Depending on the size of the boat, it would take several days if not weeks to get back to bare timber. The Arbortech Power Carving Unit accompanied with the Levelling Guide and the TURBOPlane allows anyone to easily remove paint and antifoul in a fraction of the time. Best of all, you don’t have to worry about inhaling toxic particles as it comes with dust extraction.

Stripping a Wooden Boat

We took a Power Carving Unit to a shipping slip, where a wooden boat, built in 1962 would be stripped back to bare timber. It was covered in layer upon layer of paint and antifoul applied over the years and was going to be a challenge.

We decided to time-lapse the progress of the Power Carving Unit, when compared to the current method of antifoul removal, hand scraping.

Overall feedback: Power Carving Unit was the winner!
