Technique
Run the Head Joint Blade down the short vertical joints, clear the bed joints, then use Plunge Blades to break the brick's core and lever it free. Four clean edges, ready for the replacement to bed straight in.

The process

Step 1
Clear the bed joints and run the Head Joint Blade down both verticals — full depth, square into every corner.
Step 2
Plunge through the face to split the brick, then lever the pieces out without disturbing the surrounding wall.
Step 3
Clean and dampen the opening, butter the new brick and bed it flush — then point the joints to match the existing work.
